Company’s approach and policies towards sustainability in its work premises:	Dolby Poland puts great emphasis on sustainability and eco-friendly power management. Its new home in Wrocław – Green Towers – holds LEED ‘Platinum’ status and stands out in terms of environmental care in the design, fit-out and post-completion phases. This has resulted in a 25 pct reduction in energy consumption compared to similar offices. This is due to the virtual overtime switch and waterless toilets, but also from the optimal use of daylight, combined with technology for decreasing bright sunlight and the adjustable air humidity, ensuring that people in the Green Towers building feel pleasant and comfortable. At an operational level, Dolby Poland uses eight different streams (general waste, paper, confidential paper, PET-bottles, aluminum, e-Waste, toner and batteries) for waste disposal. Furthermore, the company insists that its vendors utilise a sophisticated sustainability programme to ensure that standards are being upheld. For example, its cleaning company uses non-toxic products, its coffee an water machines vendors provide fair trade products with energy-saving options, and its office supplies vendor provides EcoFriendly® products. While the company’s IT colleagues assist by providing ‘green temperatures’ in the IT and engineering labs, promoting double-sided printing, and placing IT equipment continuously in energy-saving mode. Company employees are encouraged to commute to work by bike. Not only has it provided special places for storing bikes, a programme will be initiated to ensure the bikes are regularly serviced. To ensure health and well-being, employees are encouraged to take up sport, to eat healthily (fruit is provided twice per week), and to sit in a proper working position –regular ergonomic assessments are made and the company’s state-of-the-art office furniture ensures that all desks and chairs are adjustable. To maintain its sustainable image, Dolby in Europe is seeking to obtain an ISO 14001 certificate in this financial year.
