Brief information about the project from an architectural point of view: |
The University Medical Centre in Gdańsk is located in a valley surrounded by moraine hills and woods. It is composed of four functional blocks accessible from the main passage, which continues the main axis of the entire layout and serves not only for communication, but also plays the role of a communal area, with retail outlets, cafés, waiting rooms, a chapel, greenery and architectural furniture. Its interior is sunny and friendly for patients, visitors and students. The hospital complex is designed with a multi-level interior street format, glazed by a large skylight, which as the main traffic axis can be accessed from every part of the hospital Along this street, which organises the complicated functional system of this large hospital, visiting facilities are also available for the patients. As well as having its own landing site for helicopters, it is at the same time integrated with the large and older university hospital.
