The idea behind the competition is to promote triathlon as a spectator sport, within and beyond the business community. The Torus company philosophy - work-life balance - shares numerous values with this demanding sport; including hard work, tenacity and the desire to be the best. What makes TTIDH truly unique is that the event is held completely indoors, in Alchemia, making it the only winter triathlon competition in Poland held inside a mixed-use business complex. This allows Torus to showcase Alchemia’s excellent sports and recreational facilities (the Aquastacja swimming pool complex and the Sportstacja sports hall), provides triathletes with a great, off-season tune-up opportunity and gives the spectators a chance to get really close to the action, cheering on their favourite competitors and getting involved in a worthy charitable cause.
On 25 February 2017, the 3rd edition of TTIDH achieved a new record of 126 competitors. For the first time, individual triathletes were joined by three-person business relay teams – with one person swimming, one cycling and one running. Almost a dozen Tricity-based companies took part in the event, fielding athletes and enthusiastic cheer teams to showcase their commitment to friendly competition, teamwork and charity – values all socially-responsible businesses can agree on. The business relay race was won by Tiger Gym. Other companies taking part included: Ekolan, State Street Bank, Lufthansa Systems Poland, Siemens, Jeppesen, Cognizant and Radio Gdańsk. It was a great opportunity for business integration.
All funds raised at TTIDH 2017 were donated to BadaBada - an early autism detection programme carried out by Fundacja SYNAPSIS, a charity dedicated to supporting people with autism. Once again, Polish sports personality and triathlete, Iwona Guzowska, served as Sports Director for the event.
