In its activities, SEGRO is guided
by the priorities set by the Responsible SEGRO program, which are: investing in local
communities and environment, nurturing talent and championing low carbon growth by i.e.
achieving net zero carbon emission by 2030. ESG takes a large part in the annual/half year
SEGRO’s financial reports as well as has its own reporting within Responsible SEGRO hence is
transparently reported to the market every six months.

Each of newly constructed SEGRO buildings for years is BREEAM certificated, from 2022 with an Excellent score. Over 30% of Polish portfolio of the company is BRREAM certified.

The goals of Responsible SEGRO are implemented through activities aimed at environmental protection. On business level there are: planning buildings in BIM (maximizing its ergonomics, and having complete source of information about energy consumption from concept to use); usage of LCA (life cycle assessment) forms, which allow precise calculation of the carbon dioxide consumption for further reduction of emission index; BREEAM certification of facilities at the Excellent level; usage of only green – certified, wind and solar energy in SEGRO parks in Poland (estimated CO2 reduction in 2022: 80 000 tones); cloud-based media monitoring system to help customers measure utilities consumption;. Replacement of 100% of external llighting in the parks for LED, often with intelligent DALI steering; installation of charging stations for electric and hybrid cars in 80% of SEGRO parks in Poland (in the future the company aims for at least 20% of parking places equipped with electric vehicles chargers); beehives, green walls, greeneries and additional plantings; green walls in parks purifying the air; every SEGRO employee has ESG targets to achieve annually.

Social responsibility is inscribed in the company's DNA and its operational activities within the Responsible SEGRO’s target of investing in local communities within original programmes: SEGRO Academy – supporting the education of high school students by popularizing learning English, while introducing the warehouse and production industry by tailored made games. In 2021 SEGRO Academy inspired 260 students from 7 schools and in 2022 will inspire 750 students from 25 schools.
In the cooperation with Łódź’s authorities in 2021 SEGRO delivered contactless water springs to 15 schools in Łódź providing them with access to the free drinking water supported by the city’s educational campaign “less plastic”. The programme is rolled out in 2021 in Łódź and Gliwice.

First edition of Be Active with SEGRO was launched in 2021. It translated physical activities of employees, customers and agents into support for "TOGETHER" Foundation and the Centre for Women's Rights, which provided psychological support to people after the pandemic. Last year 90 000 PLN was gathered this way and in 2022 the goal of Be Active with SEGRO is to raise funds for the Salvation Foundation and La Strada Foundation, the project is underway.

In 2021 SEGRO joined also Operation Clean River – our team cleaned 1 ton of trash from Stawy Stefańskiego in Łódź. We repeated this success in 2022 and in Warsaw, Gliwice and Poznań our team collected in total 1,5 ton of trash from three local water reservoirs.

The Board of Directors of SEGRO plc is responsible for leading the business in the way which they believe is most likely to lead to long-term sustainable success. It retains responsibility for the approval of certain matters including the Group’s strategy, budget, dividend policy, financial structure and major investments and disposals. The Board has delegated a number of its responsibilities to the Audit, Nomination and Remuneration Committees, and has delegated the day-to-day running of the Group and implementation of the strategy to the Chief Executive who is supported by the Executive Committee.
The Audit Committee is responsible for reviewing the adequacy and effectiveness of internal control systems on behalf of the Board.
Each of the Directors is mindful of their statutory duties under section 172 of the Companies Act 2006 to run the Company for the benefit of its shareholders, and in doing so, to take into account the long-term impact of any decisions on stakeholder relationships and the impact of the Company’s activities on the environment whilst maintaining its reputation for high standards of business conduct at all times.
