Have you developed a commercial building in the last twelve months? Then allow it to be judged by top market experts in the competition for Building of the Year in one of six categories for four real estate sectors!

Development activity in Central and Eastern Europe is still surging ahead, and so the last few months on the real estate market have once again seen the delivery of commercial space available to rent or that has already been leased. Some of the buildings that have been popping up have already changed hands, while others are waiting for new owners – as we will surely find out soon.

However, before we can be pleasantly surprised by the launch of more new projects, let’s take a closer look at the buildings that were put into use over the last year – between October 1^st, 2019 and September 30^th, 2020. Those completed within this time period can still be nominated for the Eurobuild Awards 2020. Office, retail, warehouse and hotel developments are all eligible for entry. The locations these can be in have also been widened this year –with separate categories for Poland and the Central and Eastern European region. Extensions and modernisations, however, are excluded from being entered for these particular awards, as they require separate evaluation criteria.

The best of the most outstanding new projects will be chosen in the following categories:

• New Office Building of the Year, Poland
• New Small Retail Format of the Year, Poland
• New Office Building of the Year, CEE
• New Shopping Centre of the Year, CEE
• New Warehouse of the Year, CEE
• New Hotel of the Year, CEE

Which projects have the best chance of winning? Certainly, new developments, unique in their segment, with high commercialisation levels and boasting a rich mix of tenants. The jurors will look at how well they are located and the innovative approaches, systems and technology used during their construction, as well as their architectural qualities. Much weight will also be given to the pro-environmental features of the buildings – both for their (more immediate and distant) surroundings and for their users (tenants, customers, guests or employees). These have to be buildings you simply never want to leave!
