Funding of 5.5 ha of natural forest in Southern Poland - partnership with Forest Forever Foundation
MDC2, together with the investor, Generali Real Estate, is developing a warehouse project in Skawina near Krakow called MDC2 Park Kraków South. The company has been a long-term partner of the Forest Forever Foundation since 2022, supporting it financially covering the Foundation's monthly administrative costs and engaging team members through forest plantings twice a year.
As part of the implementation of their ESG strategies, MDC2 and Generali Real Estate has decided to jointly expand cooperation with the Foundation and finance the purchase of a natural forest in Gruszowiec in the Małopolskie Voivodeship. The forest covers an area of 5.51 ha and is a one hour drive from the location of MDC2 Park Kraków South.
Native deciduous forests in Poland have been cut down for agricultural purposes, and forest areas have been transformed into pine or spruce monocultures. National parks and strict reserves constitute only 2% of the forests managed by the State Forests, and only 21% of the total area of national parks is under strict protection, which excludes any human interference.] Therefore, this project will go a long way in safeguarding forests from logging and preserve it in its natural state for future generations.
This is the first mature forest financed by MDC2 and one of the largest financed by a single business partner of the Foundation.
