Defibrillator and respirator for Czechowice-Dziedzice
Since early 2020, we have been living under a constant threat from a new and unknown SARS-Cov-2 virus that causes COVID-19. As the world has had no time to prepare for it, we are also threatened by a permanent or temporary shortage of necessary means to protect and rescue lives. In April 2020, we decided that besides increasing efforts to maintain the company and in addition to the intensified care of our employees’ health, we also had to support local communities.
Kajima Poland usually operates several parallel construction sites at various locations across Poland. Having contact with local authorities, we can easily recognize the needs of local communities. After having performed quick research, we (very emotionally) came to the conclusion that it was small communities which are far from large cities and decision-making centres that needed help the most. Our choice was Czechowice-Dziedzice. Information about Czechowice-Dziedzice’s most urgent needs was obtained from the city mayor, Marian Błachut. It was a ventilator for the local Rescue Service Station. After a short discussion, we decided to transfer the amount needed to purchase two live-saving devices: a LifePack defibrillator and transport ventilator for an ambulance.
The special-purpose donation is not an original idea. However, currently when the health of all of us is at stake, it is not originality and uniqueness that matter. What really counts is effort, effectiveness, and quick decision-making. It has been more than six months now and the new ventilator and defibrillator have been saving people’s lives. We are very happy about that!
