Brief information about the project from an architectural point of view:
|
ICHOT was built in the most historical part of Poznań - Ostrów Tumski, where polish statehood and polish Christianity begun. ICHOT is beginning of Poznań sightseeing only, the exhibition is introduction for it. After building exhibition we can go thru the footbridge to the historical fortifications of Śluza Tumska and later to Cathedral and rest of historical places of Poznań along Trakt Cesarsko Królewski - special way of Poznań sightseeing. The main idea of the building was subordinated to Cathedral by splitting block and creating this way a crevasse oriented to the church. The Cathedral attends visitors all the time of visiting exhibition by the view in aperture from glass bridges on all of levels. The Cathedral becomes the biggest and most important exhibit this way. Our building becomes such a kind of pentaprism, thru what we are looking on that, what is most important in this place - history. Fundamental idea of crevasse is an emptiness felt up only by that, what is outside.
