Why the company should be considered for this award:	Orco is one of the pioneers of eco-housing in Poland. Early implementations of green solutions by the company in Warsaw residential projects included the installation of 120 solar collectors, photovoltaic systems, double thermal insulation, rainwater reuse systems and condensing boilers delivering 15 pct savings in heating gas use. The environmentally-friendly solutions in the Złota 44 tower currently under development include the energy efficient triple glazed façade (the first solution of this type to have been employed in a high-rise building in Poland), 40 pct of it made up of energy-efficient opaque panels and 60 pct of triple glazed panels (two air chambers), whose heat transfer coefficient (U-factor) stands at only 0.6 pct.The weighted average U-factor of the entire Złota 44 building reaches just 0.9 pct. To further enhance its energy efficiency, the façade glass is optimised in terms of its cosmic positioning and thus insulation (sunlight absorption and reflection). This will translate into energy savings of 20 pct and into an associated reduction in CO2 emissions. Efficient lighting, heating, air-con management and control in aevery apartments is enhanced by being integrated into a Building Management System. With environmental benefits in mind, the building’s developers have also provided for the partial incorporation of existing structural elements of the former Warsaw City Center building’s car park into the Złota 44 tower, as well as for the installation of bird boxes for swifts, an endangered bird species, on the 8th and 53rd floors.
