Why the company should be considered for this award:	The BREEAM In-Use certification process for 11 shopping centres in the real estate portfolio of Metro Properties Poland had been completed by September 2012. The almost four-month audit has been conducted in 11 shopping centres – among them nine M1 centres, the CH Ster centre in Szczecin and the CH Ursynów centre in Warsaw. As a result, all the audited buildings have been rated as ‘Excellent’ in building management and ‘Very Good’ in asset rating. This is an exceptional result within Europe. According to the BRE statistics, only 2 pct of buildings and facilities have obtained these levels so far. The number and variety of the environmental procedures and the application of best practices stands as proof of the top-quality management, and this is confirmed by the awarding of such a certificate. The first certificate for building management assesses the quality of building management procedures with respect to energy and water management, environmental impact, hygiene and cleanliness, as well as safety and management quality. The second certificate for asset rating focuses on the assessment of building characteristics, covering the solutions used in the property with respect to energy systems, water and sewage systems, internal environment quality (thermal control, ventilation, light), waste management, cyclist facilities and ecology in general.
